Profile | Anna Sano

Anna's parents joke that she was born with scissors in her hand, obsessed with cutting any kind of paper in 1/2" strips. By age 7, she learned to use a needle and thread to attach handkerchiefs and fabric remnants into odd-shaped objects. But it wasn't until she begged her father to let her use his sewing machine at the age of 10 that her two separate "hobbies" of cutting and sewing came together. Minutes turned into hours. Hours turned into days. Days turned into years. Anna's obsession with creating something 3-dimensional with a flat fabric never ceased; always being fueled by imagination, wonder and curiosity.

During her university years, her notes were riddled with sewing sequences and diagrams of imagined outfits; not to mention the fashion illustrations framing all of what she wrote down during class. Anna graduated with a BBA and went straight to fashion school in hopes that her class notes and doodling would be more or less indistinguishable.

10 years ago, Anna bought her first industrial sewing machine from Ravi. That chance meeting led to employment at Ravi Design and she has never looked back. Anna loves to make beautiful and amazing things everyday with her hands, and work with people who nurture personal growth and push the boundaries of creativity and design.

Anna has over 23 years of sewing experience, and 4 months of gardening experience - and is equally passionate about both! If not sewing or gardening, Anna likes to cook or read while enjoying her everyday indoors or out with her four-legged sidekick, Chance.
